CY Smart Fuel — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 21 October 2026

CY Smart Fuel ("the app") helps drivers in Cyprus decide where to refuel, using official fuel prices. It is built to work without an account and to keep your information on your phone. This policy explains exactly what is collected, why, and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

The app is published by Garbis Tapacian, an independent developer based in Cyprus, who is the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The short version

1. Information that stays on your phone

The app stores the following only on your device. We cannot see it.

What Why
Language, appearance and calculation settings To remember your preferences
Vehicle details you enter (make, model, year, fuel type, tank size, average consumption) To estimate the cost of each fill-up and of driving to a station
Favourite stations and your "usual station" Quick access and savings comparisons
Places you save (e.g. "Home", "Work"), rounded to about 100 metres To compare prices near those places
A copy of the most recent fuel prices So the app works offline, always shown with its age

Deleting the app deletes all of this.

2. Your location

If you allow it, the app uses your device's location while you are using the app to find nearby stations and estimate the cost of driving to them. This happens on your phone. Your location is not sent to our server, not stored, and not shared — with one exception you control: see Price alerts below. The app never uses your location in the background.

Location access is optional. You can choose an area instead, and you can withdraw permission at any time in your phone's settings.

3. Price alerts (optional)

Alerts are off until you create one. When you do:

To delete it: remove all your alerts in the app. This erases your rules, push token and language from our server. The anonymous identifier itself may remain, with nothing attached to it, until the automatic clean-up in section 6; email us if you want it deleted sooner.

Why we may process this (legal basis): to provide the alert service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). You can stop at any time by deleting your alerts or turning off notifications.

4. Information that leaves your phone, and who receives it

Recipient What they receive Why
Supabase (our database and server host; servers in the EU, Frankfurt) Requests for fuel prices; if you use alerts, the alert data in section 3. Like any web server, it receives your IP address and may keep it in technical logs for a limited period. To deliver prices and alerts
Map tile provider (currently OpenFreeMap) Requests for map images of the area you are viewing, with your IP address To draw the map
Expo (push notification service) and Apple Push Notification service / Google Firebase Cloud Messaging Your push token and the text of each alert notification To deliver alert notifications (only if you use alerts)
Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze The station's location, when you tap Navigate To give you directions — their own privacy policies apply once they open

Some of these providers may process data outside the EU under the safeguards the GDPR requires (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

We do not use advertising networks, analytics tools or crash-reporting services, and we do not sell or rent any data.

5. Fuel price data

Fuel prices come from the Cyprus Government Retail Fuel Price Observatory (Consumer Protection Service, Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry). Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. This is public data about stations, not about you. Savings shown in the app are estimates.

6. How long we keep data

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Because we hold so little, the fastest way to exercise most of these is in the app (delete your alerts, or delete the app). For anything else, email boogieapps.help@gmail.com. As the identifier is anonymous, we may need you to send your request from the app or describe your alerts so we can find them.

You can also complain to the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus (www.dataprotection.gov.cy).

8. Children

The app is designed for drivers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Security

Data sent between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Server access is restricted, and each install can only read its own alert data.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
